Strategic
Deworming
Worm
infestation is a hidden disease with few, if any, outward signs until the worm
load is very advanced. It is the efficiency of the animal which is affected.
The parasites work from the inside robbing valuable nutrients, stressing the
immune system, depressing appetite and dry matter intake.
Research
has shown that incorporating a strategic deworming program can return many
benefits:
*
Improved appetite
*
Increased dry matter intake
*
Improved milk production
*
Improved feed efficiency
*
Improved body condition score
*
Improved growth rate
*
Improved overall health and immune system strength
Doboy
Safe-Guard Cattle D-Worm-R is Safe to Use
-
There
is no milk withdrawal or discard required and it can safely be fed to
breeding age heifers.
-
Fenbendazole
(the key ingredient in Safe-Guard) will not interfere when milk is tested
with antibiotic residue kits.
-
Fenbendazole
effectively removes and controls all nine cattle parasites, including
hookworms, lungworms, and their immature growth stages.
Deworming
Options
0-6
Individual Program for Dairy Cows
To
maximize the benefits of a strategic deworming program, dairy cows should be
dewormed at freshening. The second treatment should be 6-8 weeks into
the lactation. The 0-6 program is based on the 6-7 week life cycle of
gastrointestinal parasites in the adult cow.
Seasonal
Deworming
Dairy
herds that are exposed to moderate to high levels of parasites associated with
pasture grazing or heavily used barn yards should be dewormed in late fall,
after the first hard frost and again approximately 6 weeks after spring
green-up. Dairy herds with low or minimal exposure levels of parasites
associated with total confinement or access to dry dirt or concrete lots need
to be treated as a herd only once a year, preferably in late fall after the
first hard frost.
532

Studies
show that Safe-Guard Cattle D-Worm-R can increase your milk production by 532
pounds per cow with an effective worm control program.
